  • CITY BAGS: A NATURAL HISTORY

The most recent illustrated book from Louis Vuitton "City Bags: A Natural History" is unique, clever and playful.

Adopting a semi-scientific approach to its most emblematic and iconic bags, Louis Vuitton presents the first comprehensive taxonomy of its city bags. Taking the typical categorisation of industrial design objects from last century, this book chronicles the development and evolution of the city bag by appropriating and mimicking the scientific classification of animals and plants. Speedy, Papillon, Alma, Lockit, Noé, Bucket, Neverfull and Pochette, these bags have become today indispensable for the ideal wardrobe. Descended from the four early specimens, The Steamer Bag, The Vanity Case, The Keepall and The Alzer Suitcase, the ancestry of the city bags is delineated in splendor.

Available in French, English and Italian, this precious edition, published by Rizzoli NY, is exclusively available in Louis Vuitton stores.

Louis Vuitton hosted a cocktail party at the famous department store Le Bon Marché to celebrate the launch of the new SC bags and the reveal of the Sofia Coppola windows.

A historical department store in Paris (some sources claim it to be the oldest one in the world), Le Bon Marché was a natural choice for the House to present the collaboration during Paris Fashion Week. Aside from being one of Sofia Coppola’s favorite stores in Paris, Le Bon Marché has always been ahead of its time one way or another: through its glass and steel architecture with contributions by Gustave Eiffel, or by its beginnings hosting an art gallery in its walls as early as 1875.

The collaboration with Louis Vuitton started back in 2009 when Sofia Coppola designed the iconic bag that bears her name. This season introduces new colors and a smaller version of the SC bag, the ‘BB’.

Sofia furthermore imagined ten windows to illuminate this very special project. Heart-shaped shiny balloons, glossy cherries, neon-strip and supersized peonies composed the different scenes; a way for us to discover another aspect of the cinematographer’s personality.

  • FALL/WINTER ACCESSORIES AND QUENTIN JONES

Quentin Jones, artist and fashion filmmaker, creates a film in celebration of the new Fall/Winter Women’s collection.

With the arrival of scarves, shawls, and belts in this next season's colors and fashion jewelry in distinct styles, Quentin Jones has played with the designs' shapes from the more geometric and jagged edged, to the spotted and warmer tones of the pieces.

For Fall/Winter 2013, the Fashion Jewellery collection revisits signature themes and introduces new ones, offering a myriad of exciting and enticing options...As ever, the importance of the Art Deco era, which inspired the creation of some Louis Vuitton icons, is perceptible in the collection's bold, graphic shapes and daring mixes of materials.

While the Karakoram scarves pull a pattern from the Pre-fall ready-to-wear, the Monogram shawls, belts, and Spike It cuffs take character from the Monogram Empreinte leather goods collection.

In a mix of collage and photo montage, all of the shapes fall into fun arrangements depicting the universe and revealing the different ways the accessories can be paired and worn.
