    Louis Vuitton presents actress Alicia Vikander as the embodiment of the Cruise 2018 Collection.

    Within a spectacular setting where sky and sea are at their purest, the Cruise 2018 campaign crystalizes the balance between strength and serenity at the heart of the collection.

    Lensed by photographer Patrick Demarchelier, the images feature Alicia Vikander accompanied by variations of the Twist and Capucine handbags. Transported from the show in Kyoto to the remote island of Ibiza, they stand out as striking signals of craftsmanship and design. Meanwhile, Alicia lingers through the landscape, her looks channeling the maverick spirit of Kansai Yamamoto whose vision inspired Nicolas Ghesquière this season. 

    References to Japanese ceremonial dress, samurai, traditional landscape artworks, and Kabuki theatre all emerge through pieces conceived as streamlined statements. In these moments of freedom, the collection becomes yet another expression of Louis Vuitton’s embrace of travel. When the Twist bag adorned with Kabuki stickers appears by Alicia’s side, it’s as though she is holding onto a future memento.

    Discover actress Alicia Vikander at the edge of the world in Nicolas Ghesquière’s Japan-inspired collection.

    Amidst an oceanic idyll, Alicia Vikander finds balance in beauty. She draws strength from the elements, and revels in the solitude.

    Realized by Patrick Demarchelier, the film presents Nicolas Ghesquière’s homage to Japan as a journey outward to a minimalist sanctuary, and inward to the soul. Traditional landscape brocades and warrior-inspired surface details, channel a dual longing for inner peace and empowerment.

    As the camera sweeps over the water, landing on Alicia gazing out at the sunset, or exploring the remote terrain, it becomes clear that this assertive collection is her only link to the world she left behind.

    Recognized as one of the most influential living artists and based on the artist’s “Masters” series of paintings, this second chapter begins on October 27th and includes: Reclining Girl by François Boucher; Delightful Land by Paul Gauguin; Luncheon on the Grass by Edouard Manet; Water Lilies by Claude Monet; The Triumph of Pan by Nicolas Poussin (exclusive for Maison Louis Vuitton Vendôme) and Ancient Rome by J.m.W.
