LAST DAYS OF THE EXHIBITION IN NEW YORK
The global journey of “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton” continues in New York, where the former American Stock Exchange provide a grand backdrop for this immersive exhibition. Curator Olivier Saillard once again leads visitors through the history of the House as a thematic journey brought to life by Robert Carsen’s dynamic scenography.
With this latest instalment the longstanding presence of Louis Vuitton in America is sure to resonate, from George Vuitton’s participation in the 1893 Chicago World Fair, to archival items that belonged to such illustrious clientele as Ernest Hemingway, Lauren Bacall, F. Scott Fitzgerald, as well as the Rockefeller and Vanderbilt families.
Displays of collaborations with artists Stephen Sprouse and now Jeff Koons allow visitors to see the House codes interpreted with a vibrant and distinctly local influence. Finally, a section dedicated to the artisans’ workshops, highlights how savoir-faire has driven the story of Louis Vuitton all along.
