A titanic sea battle is underway ahead of the 35th edition of the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup, while a sportswear line signed with a red V has been launched in celebration of the legendary contest.
Louis Vuitton will travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to mark its third Cruise collection presentation.
The Cruise collection presentation will be held on Saturday, May 28th in an exclusive setting: the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum (MAC). A landmark building in Brazil, designed by celebrated Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.
The iconic building, shaped like a flying saucer that looks like it has landed on the side of a hill overlooking Guanabara Bay, facing Rio, was built in 1991 and inaugurated in 1996. The white modernist structure is reflected in a pool that surrounds its cylindrical base, “like a flower”, as the famed architect described it. The Louis Vuitton Cruise presentation marks the first time the museum has ever hosted a fashion show and also serves as an occasion to celebrate the museum’s 20th anniversary and its reopening to the public following a major renovation project.
"Following the Bob and Dolores Hope estate designed by John Lautner in Palm Springs, California, we continue the architectural journey that is so particular to the Maison Louis Vuitton" explains Nicolas Ghesquière, Artistic Director of Women’s Collections at Louis Vuitton.
The Louis Vuitton Cruise show will be broadcast live on May 28th on www.louisvuitton.com. #LVCRUISE
