What's in a Name?
Nothing is more personal than a handbag. In a way, one could say: tell me which bag you carry and I’ll tell you who you are. Louis Vuitton is well aware of this close relationship and has long considered the intrinsic personality of each of its creations. Their very names endow them with singular individuality: Capucines, Néonoé, Steamer, Dauphine, Petite Malle… There is something legendary about these iconic designs, a craftsman’s trick, a designer’s thought, a historical secret. With a closer look, it is possible to decipher the clues concealed in these faithful companions.
By choosing to acquire and restore an elegant historic monument in Vendôme to house an exotic leather workshop, Louis Vuitton resuscitates a French city steeped in leather-making tradition and history. Here, 170 km from Paris, we find the Loir River reflecting the high slate rooftops, centuries-old trees, washhouses and mills that once supplied tanneries and taweries, the very places that produced the famous Vendôme kidskin gloves. At the foot of the feudal castle towering over the city lie the Trinity Abbey and the 11th-century Régence building, a historic monument that has been resuscitated by Louis Vuitton for to serve as a new exotic leather workshop.
Coeur Battant, the New Fragrance
The latest addition to Les Parfums Louis Vuitton Collection pays homage to women’s inner strength. Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud shares, “I wanted to showcase forgotten materials that belong to the magnificent history of perfume, such as ylang-ylang, as well as patchouli, the height of sophistication and luxury. Cœur Battant is a great woody floral that plays with contrasts. I like to use unusual notes that dance around and embrace more classic materials to create something new. ” The Master Perfumer who excels in olfactory oxymorons crafted a fragrance that is reassuring yet intriguing, luminous but shadowy, vibrant and intense.
Louis Vuitton’s jewelry traces out landscapes in diamonds in order to highlight the most special moments in life. The pieces from the B Blossom, Blossom, and Empreinte Fine Jewelry Collections express the confidence of bold women, pieces that are meant to be displayed, to turn heads, to stack up, to mix and match. Necklaces act like talismans. Earrings become luminous punctuations. Thick, generous bracelets pair up with diamond-paved cuffs. Yellow, white or pink gold, united with mother-of-pearl and onyx, compose a precious rainbow that dazzles with brilliant, timeless diamonds.

Since 1854, Louis Vuitton has invented luggage for the evolving needs of esthete-explorers. Combining tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and creativity, the Maison’s designs can be placed in a conversation between the imagination of a pioneer and creativity focused on the future. Today, everything from the iconic Monogram, “malletage” quilting, personalization services, and even the Horizon rolling luggage bring this heritage to the modern-day era.
For Louis Vuitton, innovation has always been a cardinal value, and craftsmanship today takes on an ever-increasingly high tech edge. The Maison’s latest creations feature futuristic facets, whose technological feats are matched only by their exacting style: bags endowed with incredible flexible digital screens, or the pulsing, fiber-optic Keepall Lightning.
